Data Protection Notice for EMODnet Seabed Habitats

Important: Relevant documents such as data protection notices are being reviewed & updated in light of our current transfer from EASME to Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) Executive Agency. Thus, after 1 April 2021 any reference to EASME shall be read as CINEA during the transition period.


Your personal data is processed in accordance with Regulation (EU) No 2018/1725 on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data by the Union institutions, bodies, offices and agencies and on the free movement of such data.

The data controller of the processing operation is the Head of Unit D.3 - EMFF of the Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA).

The following entity processes your personal data on our behalf:  Institut Français de Recherche pour l’Exploitation de la Mer (“Ifremer”), 1625 route de Sainte-Anne, Zone industrielle de la Pointe du Diable, 29280 Plouzané, France.

The legal basis for the processing activities is:

  • Article 5(1)(d) of Regulation EU 2018/1725 based on your consent for your non-mandatory personal data indicated below;

The purpose(s) of this processing is/are to:

  • Allow us to respond to questions and comments submitted via the Contact Us form.
  • Track usage of the website via your IP address.

The following non-mandatory personal data are collected: name, email address and IP address can only be processed based on your prior consent.

The recipients of your personal data will be CINEA and Commission staff in charge of EMODnet, staff of CINEA contractors in charge of EMODnet Seabed Habitats, and bodies charged with monitoring or inspection tasks in application of EU law (e.g. internal audits, Court of Auditors, European Anti-fraud Office (OLAF)).   

Your personal data will not be transferred to third countries or international organisations.

The processing of your data will not include automated decision-making (such as profiling).

Your personal data will be kept for a maximum period of:

  • For IP addresses stored in cookies: up to 12 months from the start of a browsing session. Data will be automatically deleted at the end of this period. More details on our Cookies page:
  • For email addresses entered into the Contact Us form: up to 3 months from the point at which it is entered by the user. Data will be deleted at the end of this period.

You have the right to access your personal data and to request your personal data to be rectified, if the data is inaccurate or incomplete; where applicable, you have the right to request restriction or to object to processing, to request a copy or erasure of your personal data held by the data controller. If processing is based on your consent, you have the right to withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of the processing based on your consent before its withdrawal.

Your request to exercise one of the above rights will be dealt with without undue delay and within one month.
