Spatial data downloads
Through the EMODnet Seabed Habitats interactive map,
you may view and query the available maps without the need for
desktop GIS software. Furthermore, through the Web Map
Service you may view the available maps in desktop GIS
software via the internet. However, to allow a full range of
spatial analyses available in desktop GIS software, downloadable
data layers are available here.

EMODnet broad-scale seabed habitat map for Europe (EUSeaMap)
including classified habitat descriptors and confidence
Updated: 30 September 2016 -
metadata
Format: ESRI File Geodatabase and SpatiaLite database*
(broad-scale habitat map including classified habitat descriptors)
and TIFF (confidence assessment).
This dataset comprises the final output of the broad-scale
habitat map (EUSeaMap) created as part of the EMODnet Seabed
Habitats project in 2016. The data are presented in the
EUNIS classification system where possible, and amalgamated
into the MSFD predominant habitats. The attributes also contain
information on the classified habitat descriptors (e.g. biological
zone, substrate type, etc.) used to arrive at the final habitat
type. The attribute table includes all fields from the EMODnet
Seabed Habitats Translated Habitat Data Exchange
Format.
All EUNIS habitat maps from surveys (Broad, Medium, Fine)
Updated: 30 September 2016
Format: ESRI Shapefile
The EUNIS habitat map layers are compiled by JNCC on behalf
of EMODnet Seabed Habitats to produce a single
dataset of habitat maps containing data in the European
standard EUNIS classification system.
Maps can also be downloaded individually in
the "Eunis habitat maps from survey" list on this page.
Non-EUNIS (other) habitat maps from surveys (Broad, Medium,
Fine)
Updated: on 27 August 2015
Format: ESRI Shapefile
The "other" habitat map layers are compiled by JNCC on
behalf of EMODnet Seabed Habitats to produce a single
dataset of habitat maps in classification systems other than
EUNIS.
Maps can also be downloaded individually in
the "Other habitat maps from survey" list on this page.
OSPAR Threatened and/or Declining Habitats 2015
Updated: 30 June 2016 -
metadata
Format: ESRI Shapefile
A compilation of OSPAR habitat data for the northeast
Atlantic, compiled on behalf of the OSPAR Commission by JNCC,
working with representatives from each of the OSPAR coastal
contracting parties.

Kinetic energy due to waves and currents - Greater North Sea
and Celtic Seas
Updated: 2012
Photosynthetically Active Radiation (PAR) at the seabed
Updated: 26 May 2016 -
metadata
Amount of photosynthetically active radiation (light) reaching
the seabed. Used in the EUSeaMap model to determine the
infralittoral zone in the Arctic, Atlantic, Baltic and
Mediterranean. Values in
mol.phot.m^2.d^-1.
Fraction of surface PAR reaching the seabed
Updated: 26 May 2016 -
metadata
Fraction of light at the sea surface subsequently reaching the
seabed. Used in the EUSeaMap model to determine the infralittoral
zone in the Azores and Canaries.
PAR at the sea surface
Updated: 26 May 2016 -
metadata
Amount of photosynthetically active radiation (light) at the sea
surface. Used in combination with KDPAR and depth data to determine
PAR at the seabed. Values in
mol.phot.m^2.d^-1.
Coefficient of light attenuation in water (KDPAR)
Updated: 26 May 2016 -
metadata
The diffuse attenuation coefficient of photosynthetic active
radiation (KDPAR). Values in metres^-1.
Number of satellite images for each pixel of KDPAR
Updated: 26 May 2016 -
metadata
Number of satellite images used to calculate the average value
for each pixel in the KDPAR dataset. This is used as one of the
metrics in EUSeaMap determining confidence in the values of PAR at
the seabed.
Salinity at the seabed - Baltic Sea
Updated: 2012
Mean salinity regime in the Baltic Sea.
Wave exposure index at the surface - Baltic Sea
Updated: 2012
Surface wave exposure model for the Baltic Sea.
