The European Marine Observation and Data Network (EMODnet) is a
consortium of organisations within Europe that assembles marine
data, data products and metadata from diverse sources in a uniform
The EMODnet Central Portal provides access to marine data from
the following themes: bathymetry, geology, physical parameters,
chemistry, biology, human activities and seabed
habitats. EMODnet is an initiative from the European
Commission’s Directorate-General for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries
(DG MARE), as part of its Marine Knowledge 2020 strategy.

The deadline for submission (originally 31 May 2016) has been extended to 10 June 2016.
The EMODnet Seabed Habitats partnership comprises government
agencies and research institutions with proven national and
international expertise in marine seabed mapping and modelling.
In phase 1 of the project (2009-2012) a consortium of seven
partners from five countries joined together, led by the UK
government’s nature conservation advisor (JNCC). In phase 2
